Practice Nurses
A practice nurse will be involved in almost every aspect of patient care and treatment, undertaking such tasks as: ·
- Treating small injuries · Helping with minor operations done under local anaesthetic · Helping people manage long term conditions · Health screening · Family planning · Running vaccination programmes (e.g. against flu) · Running programmes to help people to stop smoking.
Janette Ryzy (F)
Jan is our Lead Practice Nurse, has an interest in wound management and nurse education. She runs wound clinics weekly for patients. Jan has special interest in CHD and is a qualified nurse mentor, regularly hosting student nurses. Jan was finalist in two categories of the General Practice Awards 2013 for developing a complex wound clinic in primary care, and for Nurse of the Year. Jan was awarded a Team Certificate of Excellence at the Royal College of General Practitioners Awards 2013 (for wound care management).
Laurie Treherne (F)
Laurie has a background in acute nursing, and has completed a Bachelor of science Specialist Practitioner Qualification In General Practice Nursing . Laurie can review patients for a range of acute conditions. She is our lead nurse for INR (Warfarin Management). Laurie is a Welsh speaker.
