Midwives

Our attached Midwife runs a clinic once a week at the medical centre on a Tuesday AM.

Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN)

The Diabetic Specialist Nurse runs clinics when necessary at Nantgarw Road Medical Centre. Appointments are by invite only.

Stop Smoking Wales

Help me quit provide support for patients contemplating giving up (including vaping).   Patients can self refer. We also have a ‘smoking champion’  – with your consent we can ensure you recieve follow up support.  Smoking can lead to strokes, cancer, heart and lung disease. We strongly advise quitting. The best way to stop is with a combination of medication and support. Quitting smoking is the first step towards a healthier life. ‘Help Me Quit’ Can support you all the way! Text HMQ to 80818

Community Nurses

The Community Nursing team are based within the medical centre and provide nursing care via GP referral for our housebound, or recently discharged patients who cannot travel because of their condition. Please note that the team are not contactable via our surgery numbers.

Counsellor

Our practice primary mental healthcare team  Counsellor , provide weekly services from the Nantgarw Road Medical Centre. Appointments are by referral only.

Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners (PHP)

Jamie Marron and Charlotte Holding are the attached practitioners for the Primary Care Mental Health Service, who can help support patients  with low mood/anxiety type presentations  in a longer appointment. Patients can directly book into appointments (available 2 weeks in advance) This service is not suitable for patients who are already supported by the mental health teams, or for patients with complex needs.

Direct access physiotherapist

Damien Corns is the attached NHS physiotherapist who runs clinics at the practice. r You can now access a NHS physiotherapist assessment at the surgery for musculoskeletal problems, and can assess and manage your condition. This is for new muscle, bone or joint problems and not for injuries caused by accidents . You must be able to attend surgery – Please book directly.
